I finally believed Vargas turned it around, and he went out on Monday an started week eight off in a horrible way.  He couldn't make it five innings, and had an absolutely horrible ERA and WHIP.  Vargas' biggest problem was he got blasted for two home runs in spacious Target Field.  He should be a solid starter for Seattle, but he's been inconsistent so far on the year.  It wasn't much better if you went with Bartolo Colon as an alternate it wasn't much better, as he let up six runs over six innings but at least helped you out with eight strikeouts.

I'm sorry about Vargas, but I can't do anything about Monday, just look on towards Tuesday.  A good starter with hopefully better results here Tuesday night...

Tuesday's Starter Recommendation - Kyle McClellan - St. Louis Cardinals at San Diego Padres - 10:05 PM ET - 40.4% Owned in ESPN Leagues

McClellan is a total no-brainer here on Tuesday night.  He's 6-1 on the year and has a 3.43 ERA and 1.28 WHIP and has drawn the beautiful matchup at Petco Park and the Padres offense.  The strikeout numbers haven't been great on the year, but he should be able to get the K/9 up a little closer to the 7.00+ numbers he posted as a reliever rather than the 4.37 K/9 he has so far on the year.  He'll definitely rack up the strikeouts Tuesday, as the Padres offense leads the league in striking out by a full 20 Ks.  He's going to continue to be a valuable starter all year if he keeps the ERA down because of the powerful Cardinal offense giving him run support.  Look for him to keep the ERA and WHIP down again on the way to his seventh win of the year.

Tuesday's Alternate - Chris Narveson - Milwaukee Brewers vs Washington Nationals - 8:10 PM ET - 12.1% Owned in ESPN Leagues

Rolled with Narveson in his last outing, and he makes a great second option here to Kyle McClellan.  Narveson is on a three start roll and draws the Nationals here on Tuesday night.  The Nationals offense has the worst batting average in the majors and is third in the league in whiffs.  Narveson should be able to deliver you similar numbers to what McClellan gives you Tuesday night, but doesn't have the same shot to pick up a win.

Tuesday's Deep League Recommendation - Doug Fister - Seattle Mariners at Minnesota Twins - 8:10 PM ET - 0.8% Owned in ESPN Leagues

Fister is owned in less than one percent of all ESPN leagues, but should probably be owned in your deep or AL league.  He sports a 2.93 ERA and 1.29 WHIP on the year and has been striking out more than 5 batters per nine innings.  He's worth a look here for the same reasons that Vargas was a good option yesterday.  Hard to say no to playing the Twins in Target Field right now.
