Fantasy Baseball Hitter Pickup And Drop Ideas For 5/10/11

Hard to evaluate my pickups based on just one day of work (especially when both players have the day off), so I'm going to look back at my pickups/drops after a week and see how I'm doing.  So for now, lets just get in the pickups and drops for today.  The idea, for now, is to not just list a guy you could drop and one to pickup, but to have a pickup you can actually replace the droppable player with. Today we're going with outfielders...

The Droppable - Jason Bay - New York Mets - Outfield - 86.6% Owned in ESPN Leagues

Jason Bay suckers everyone in.  You look at the numbers from prior and hope for more, but Citi Field has sapped his power. He's otherwise just a decent average outfielder that'll give you ten homers and ten stolen bases.  That doesn't need to be owned in your ten team mixed leagues.  Instead of getting poor production at every category, you could go out an get yourself a one category contributer like the 22.0% owned Carlos Gomez for stolen bases or even the 66.8% owned Vernon Wells if you need better power, or you can get Jason Bay numbers in a better lineup (so more RBIs and Runs) with the 71.8 Owned Melky Cabrera.  No matter which way you go, Jason Bay shouldn't be on your team.

The Pickup - Logan Morrison - Florida Marlins - Outfield - 78.7% Owned in ESPN Leagues

Morrison isn't available in as many leagues as I'd like for him to be the pickup for the day, but he makes it because he shouldn't be available in the 21.3% of leagues you can get him in.  He was dropped because he was injured, but he started his rehab stint on Monday and they are targeting a Friday return for him.  He's been out since April 19th and he's still the 58th best outfielder according to ESPN's Player Rater and had four homers and a .327 average in the 15 games he played.  The kid has real power and is going to rake this year.  Get him on your team while you can.
