Week Five NFL Wrap Up - Steelers 38 Titans 17

Doing individual posts for my Week Five wrap up this week, and am on to the Pittsburgh and Tennessee game from this week.  This was supposed to be a coming out game here for the Titans and the nail in the coffin for the Steelers, but it ended up as a bounce back win for the Steelers.  We'll look at the game from both a real life perspective and a fantasy perspective to cover everything...

Tennessee Titans 17 at Pittsburgh Steelers 38
  • The Titans are still having major problems getting Chris Johnson going on the ground, and it was bound to come back and bite them eventually.  This week against the Steelers it did, as Pittsburgh was able to hold Matt Hasselbeck to just 5.35 yards per pass attempt.  The Titans offense was only able to score 17 on the day, and that wasn't enough on a day where their defense was letting Pittsburgh drive up and down the field.
  • I was somewhat amazed by how well Pittsburgh ran the ball, especially against a Tennesse defense that looked good the first few weeks.  If Pittsburgh can keep running the ball like this, they may make a strong run later this season.
Fantasy Realities
  • While the Steelers did a good job running the ball on Sunday, I don't know if it is going to translate when Rashard Mendenhall returns.  Mendenhall hasn't looked good even when you consider how the line looked, and he really just looks like he was over worked last season.  I'm still selling on him for fantasy purposes.
  • I still think that Matt Hasselbeck is going to be useful as a fantasy quarterback during the upcoming by weeks.  This week was rough, but it's Houston, Indy, Cincinnati, and then Carolina after the bye.  That makes him a passable starting option in all the bye weeks.  You'll need a quarterback at some point.
