I picked the wrong starter yesterday.  Recommended Vargas with Guillermo Moscoso as an alternate, but had the two backwards in this particular pitchers' duel.  Moscoso pitched seven scoreless innings of just two hit ball on his way to a win.  Vargas wasn't no slouch himself, but he got hit up by Scott Sizemore on a solo shot and an RBI single, and that was his downfall on the day.  Still, short of picking up the win Vargas did deliver spendidly with an 8 inning complete game of low ERA and WHIP ball.  Can't complain about that.

A bunch of starters are under the line on Thursday, but most of them aren't very good.  Luckily there are a few gems available....

Thursday's Starter Recommendation - Cory Luebke - San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants - 10:15 PM ET - 15.6% Owned in ESPN Leagues

Luebke has now turned in a pair of shut out starts since joining the rotation and has struck out more than a batter per inning in each start.  He went five innings in his first start and six in his second start, so he should be good to go even longer into the game here on Thursday night.  Luebke has strikeout potential and ERA and WHIP potential and the San Francisco Giants offense isn't one that you have to avoid.  He's easily the best option here Thursday, so start him without worry here.

Thursday's Alternate Starter - Andrew Miller - Boston Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles - 7:10 PM ET - 5.8% Owned in ESPN Leagues

Most of the time, I try to play the best pitching options in terms of matchup and pitcher talent.  Here, Miller isn't the second best option based on just those two criteria, but jumps up when you add in his win potential.  Miller has already pickup up two wins in just three starts in Beantown and has an offense that has won six of it's last seven games backing him up.  He is a worthy alternate today, and worth a start as a second streamer if you are chasing in wins here late in your matchup week.

That's all today.  No worthwhile deep league options out there.
