A second total dud in the row made me just duck and hide from picking starters on Saturday.  Trusting Javy and Phil on back to back days was a bad idea in retrospect.  Luckily it's still not that bad of a week in ERA and WHIP considering those last two horrible starts.

Sunday we have a pair of starters coming in who probably aren't going to make the ERA and WHIP much better, but will rack up some strikeouts and have the best shots at the wins you need on Sundays...

Sunday's Recommendation One - Bartolo Colon - New York Yankees vs Oakland Athletics - 1:05 PM ET - 33.0% Owned in ESPN Leagues

I'm back in with Bartolo after the comeback outing against the Rays.  The .2 inning debacle against the Jays was bad, but it was a bit of bad luck and he should have gotten out of the inning.  He seems to have confidence back in his hamstring and took care  of the Rays last time out.  I like him against the Athletics here for the same reason I liked Hughes the other day.  They don't have a remotely good offense.  Colon is going to keep producing for you all year.  If you need a win on Sunday cause you are playing catchup, Colon is easily the best option.

Sunday's Recommendation Two - Rick Porcello - Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins - 4:10 PM ET - 9.1% Owned in ESPN Leagues

Speaking of picking up wins, Porcello has racked up three in a row.  The Twins offense has been better since Joe Mauer returned, but he hasn't been a cure all.  Their offensive output since the All-Star Break has only been average, and they'll be playing in Target Field Sunday, where pitchers always prosper.  Porcello will give you between three and five strikeouts and deliver strong ERA and WHIP numbers on the way to try and pick up a win.

It's not that great a starter day here otherwise.  If you still need wins you can try with Tim Wakefield and Dontrelle Willis might give you some strikeouts, but I'm not recommending either as an alternate today.
