Closed out a great week here Sunday night. It started off ugly, but the spot starter choices over the weekend got the ERA and WHIP down to fantastic levels.  Could use more strikeouts, but an otherwise solid spot starting week.

Freddy Garcia turned in another great start here Sunday.  His strikeout totals will never be high, but as long as he turns in these one run outings, he'll do great things for your fantasy team.  He would have picked up a win here Sunday too, but a rare blown save by Mariano lost the game for them.

It's a full slate of games here on a holiday Monday, but only half the starters are available under the 50% owned line, and the two most owned options under the line have been scratched from their Monday starts.  Still, I found a pair of strong options from the thirteen available starters....

Monday's Starter Recommendation - Vance Worley - Philadelphia Phillies at Florida Marlins - 6:10 PM ET - 3.6% Owned In ESPN Leagues

Worley has been up in the majors a few times this year due to injuries in the Phillies rotation, and he has performed admirably in most of his appearances.  He's overlooked due to the other more high profile members of the rotation in Philadelphia, but he has a smooth 2.57 ERA over 42 innings.  The 6.64 K/9 isn't blowing anyone away, but it's still enough to pick up a solid four strikeouts per start.  The team with the best record in the majors is backing him up, and the Marlins offense isn't scaring anyone.  He's likely to be skipped on his turn in the rotation at the end of the week, so he might be left in there extra long Monday.  Feel free to trot him out there Monday with no worries.

Monday's Alternate/Deep League Recommendation - Guillermo Moscoso - Oakland Athletics vs Seattle Mariners - 4:05 PM ET - 1.0% Owned in ESPN Leagues

Moscoso been excellent over his last three outings and enjoys a 2.51 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over his 43 innings of work this year.  The strikeouts aren't there, but that's not what we are looking for here.  We are looking for an innings eater with a good matchup this deep, and Moscoso can eat up the innings in a great matchup here against the Mariners.  When a pitcher is starting against the worst offense in the league, you start him.

Happy Fourth Of July Everyone.
