Week Six NFL Game Wrap Up - Raiders 24 Browns 17

Yesterday, I ran through all of the morning games, and this afternoon I've been running through all the late and night games from week six.  Right now, it's time for the Cleveland at Oakland game.  This wrap up itself is going to have both a look back at the game for real life purposes and is going to explain the fantasy implications of each game.....

Cleveland Browns 17 at Oakland Raiders 24
  • This is a game the Browns should have been able to win.  Oakland lost Jason Campbell to a broken collar bone, and the Browns got to play against Kyle Boller for half of a football game, but Cleveland still couldn't win this game.  I want to like Colt McCoy, but when you can't complete 50% of your passes against Oakland, there is clearly a problem.  I don't know if it's the receivers or what, but McCoy has to improve if the Browns are going to do anything.
  • While the passing game still should have been better, the Browns do get a slight pass because they lost Peyton Hillis in the first quarter.  Hillis isn't the type of game changing back that should change your offensive philosophy when he is out, but he is he best player on their offense at this point, so him leaving the game obviously cost them some.
  • Earlier today,Oakland traded for Carson Palmer.  I'm going to write a post tomorrow hopefully that explains why that was an absolutely horrible trade for the Raiders.

Fantasy Realities
  • Peyton Hillis needs to have a good game in his next start, or he's going to lose his starting fantasy running back status.  Right now his bad games can be at least partially excused due to injuries and tough run defenses, but if he only has one good game against the Colts on his resume through eight weeks, it's going to be hard to justify starting him.
  • While I don't think the Carson Palmer trade was very good, it shouldn't change fantasy values too much out in Oakland.  Darren McFadden should see a few extra carries while Palmer adjusts to the offense, but that's about it.
